Job Description: Purpose of the Role: The Senior Commercial Manager will oversee all commercial activities necessary to relocate submarine training equipment and ensure the successful handover to Selborne’s delivery organization. Key activities include:

  • Surveying and relocating existing training equipment
  • Decommissioning and recommissioning training equipment
  • Managing logistical arrangements
  • Implementing new IT networks and hardware/software
  • Transitioning the project into service delivery
Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish agreements with subcontractors and suppliers to mitigate Capita’s risks
  • Address risks and opportunities proactively
  • Collaborate with senior management and stakeholders for commercial issue resolution
  • Build strong relationships with the Royal Navy, Tier 1 partners, and suppliers
  • Work with project finance to mitigate financial impacts
  • Manage change control processes and obligations
  • Support performance reviews and act as the first point of informal dispute resolution
  • Ensure compliance with Capita’s commercial governance
  • Keep the Selborne Commercial Director informed of key issues
Essential Skills and Experience:
  • Current SC clearance
  • 10+ years of commercial management experience in Defence and/or an engineering environment
  • Experience with complex and strategic contracts
  • Knowledge of contract law in a government contracting environment
  • Working knowledge of GDPR
  • Financial acumen and understanding of financial modelling and contract pricing
Desirable Skills and Experience:
  • Professional accreditations (e.g., World Commerce & Contracting, ICM, MCIPS)
  • Engineering or Project Management qualifications
  • Experience in complex service delivery environments with large suppliers
  • Previous experience in companies like Rolls Royce, BAE, or similar
  • Strong personality and can-do attitude
  • Ex-Royal Navy background
