Biotechnology is an enabling technology that can help deliver these targets.We currently have anexciting opportunity for a Research Scientist to join the Biotechnology R&Tgroup, specifically the Synthetic Biology team, who will help deliver thesesustainability targets. Depending on your experience, you will develop engineeredmicrobes for new bioprocesses at lab and pilot scale. The successful candidatewill also gain invaluable experience working closely with our production teamsto develop these processes to industrial scale. As well as this, you will workclosely with other areas of the business such as IP, regulatory, application, sales,and marketing to gain the vital experience of making your research efforts a commercialsuccess. PhD or equivalent experience in synthetic biology, molecular biology, metabolic engineering.
Strong technical background in strain engineering of fungal strains (cultivation and genetic manipulation)
Strong molecular biology skills, including cloning, DNA & RNA manipulation, microorganism transformation.
You will have the ability to work within an R&T team and wider commercial teams.
You will have strong communication and networking skills.
Background in modern gene-editing technologies such as CRISPR, and DNA assembly such as Golden-Gate and Gibson.
Experience in high-throughput screening (DNA combinatorial assembly, enzyme assays, or analytics)
Previous work experience within the biotechnology or bioindustry sector.
Proven experience of taking an idea to commercial success.
