This is maternity leave cover for a Lead Information & data analyst working in specifically in Cardiology & Cardiac Surgery.

As the lead for all data, information and audit specialist the postholder will provide reports, insight and recommendations through complex analysis of multiple datasets, comprehensive reporting and analysis.

Main duties of the job

Data analysis and reporting to multi-disciplinary professionals

Submission of and oversight of submission of national audit and safety data for the specialities

Line management of a small team who deliver audit and data across the two specialties

Contribute to improvement of services for patients by providing required reports and also escalating shifts in activity, performance or quality seen in data, outside of routine reporting

St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has around 1300 beds and treats around 80,000 inpatient and day cases and over 300,000 outpatients annually. The Trust employs over 5000 staff including about 700 Medical & Dental Staff. It provides general acute services together with speciality services including neurosciences, cardio-thoracic, haemato-oncology and specialist children's services.St George's Hospital is the only university hospital in the south-west London, and as such has developed links with most district general hospitals throughout SW London, Surrey and Sussex, and supports a significant training programme for junior doctors who rotate through the Trust.The Trust is on a number of sites St George's Hospital, the base for acute general medicine and surgical services, Queen Mary's Hospital in Roehampton for elective care, day surgery and rehabilitation and the Nelson and the St John's Therapy Centre for outpatient care and diagnostics.

Qualifications

Essential


  • Degree level education in a numerate subject or work experience equivalent

Desirable


  • MBA, Masters or PhD in numerate subject
  • Relevant professional registration (e.g. UK Council for Health Informatics Professions Operational Society Fellowship)

Experience

Essential


  • Post degree experience in informatics, analysis and reporting
  • In depth experience of information analysis and reporting
  • Experience in transforming data into a meaningful and presentable form and communicating complex issues to a wide audience
  • Experience in building and maintaining working relationships to a senior level
  • Knowledge of Business Intelligence application and methods
  • Knowledge of data set manipulation
  • Experience of managing staff

Desirable


  • Experience with NHS information systems
  • Knowledge of Operational research methods and application.
  • Knowledge and understanding of mandatory reporting requirements, NHS data standards and definitions
  • Visual Basic for Applications (VBA)
  • Statistical software (e.g. SPSS, R)
  • Knowledge of NHS administrative systems: o Cerner o Dendrite o Surginet o Soliton o ED First Net
