An exciting and appealing opportunity has arisen for a Senior Occupational Therapist to join our Older Persons' Therapy Service.


This is a fantastic opportunity where you will be encouraged and supported to enhance your clinical practice and develop extended skills in frailty, whilst working alongside our highly regarded and innovative Older Person's Team in the hospital. We offer you the opportunity to contribute towards the development of excellent services for our patients, to be involved in the training of others, and to expand your own knowledge. A minimum of two years' experience working at Band 5 level


NHS or relevant health experience


Willing to participate in 7 day working on a rota basis


Ability to drive, hold a clean drivers licence and have access to a car for work purposes


Part time or full time hours will be considered.


Poole Hospital


You will have the opportunity to develop specialised skills including high-level assessments moving and handling cognitive assessments and interventions capacity assessments admission avoidance, and complex discharge planning.


University Hospital Dorset works in partnership with health and community providers within the county to enable the Discharge to Assess and Home First principles.


This role will provide you with the opportunity to support patients within the acute hospital and within their own homes to ensure they receive the right service in the best place for them.
To be successful in this post, you will have previous NHS experience including hospital work excellent organisational, communication and motivational skills.


Participation in extended hours and weekend working is an integral aspect of this post. This post is based from Poole Hospital however we have therapy teams also based from our Bournemouth and Christchurch sites, and cross-site working may become a requirement.


We offer you the opportunity to contribute towards the development of excellent services for our patients, to be involved in the training of others, and to expand your own knowledge. UHD are investing in services across the Trust, with many being transformed and developed following merger and the New Hospital Programme.


This means that some services may move site this year or next, either temporarily or long term. Diploma/ degree in Occupational Therapy
Minimum of 18 months experience as a Band 5 in the NHS.
Experience of a range of rotations including medicine, orthopaedic, older people & rehabilitation.

Involvement in audit, research & understanding of quality issues.


Contribution to the clinical education of less experienced staff, students or assistants
Supervision & appraisals of juniors, assistants or students
Possession of a clean UK driving licence
Ability to speak English as necessary to undertake the role
