Health and Safety Advisor

Ardingly College is seeking to recruit a qualified and experienced Health, Safety, Environment and Compliance Advisor. This is an exciting opportunity and ideal time to join the College as it continues to invest in its buildings, structures and staff. The successful candidate will be given the flexibility and trust to shape and build on the safety processes already in place while establishing themselves as a valued member of staff.
The ideal candidate will hold the NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent and hold Grad IOSH or CMIOSH membership or be working towards this, however applications will be considered from candidates who hold the NEBOSH General Certificate and hold Tech IOSH or equivalent membership.
We are looking for candidates with an understanding of the legislation relevant to the sector and those with experience of advising organisations with a broad risk profile in the facilities management, education or a similar sector. Knowledge of regulations and guidance pertaining to Ofsted or Independent School Inspectorate inspections would be an advantage.
The role requires a person who is credible, proactive, and able to form positive relationships with, and influence a wide range of academic and operational staff. They should be self-motivated, pragmatic in approach and a clear and effective communicator. A key skill will be the ability to work collaboratively with others to manage risk pragmatically, thus enabling the students to develop and experience risk themselves.
The hours are 20 hours per week for 52 weeks per year. The hours are flexible, and ideally are to be worked over a minimum of 4 days, Monday to Friday in agreement with the line manager. Occasional additional hours may be required as dictated by the needs of the College.
The salary is £21,000 per annum (FTE £42,000 per annum)
