What this role is all about:

Data and the subsequent information it provides underpin the Vitality Business Strategy and has been a key factor in the success of the organisation. This is through providing insight into revenue opportunities, operational efficiencies and providing our members with a great experience. For this to be successful good data is vital and this requires comprehensive data governance and management across the organisation.

The data governance manager is responsible for establishing and maintaining Vitality’s data governance framework. You will ensure the adherence to the data governance policy, processes and standards that results in Vitality’s data being defined, accurate, reliable, private and secure.

Key Actions

  • Establish and lead the data office with broad oversight of the data governance programme leading governance boards and working groups.
  • Drive the documentation, approval and carrying out of the data governance framework, policy and associated standards and processes developing and building reports/dashboards to monitor adherence.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, guide, coach and support data ownership and stewardship responsibilities. Drive adoption through the organisation and overseeing the activities of the business data stewards.
  • Establish and document Vitality’s critical data assets by creating and maintaining data dictionaries, an information glossary and data lineage documentation.
  • Support the Data Protection Officer in implementing data grouping and access controls to protect sensitive and confidential data.
  • Monitor and ensure data quality, accuracy, and integrity across the Vitality data estate, defining the business rules for which to measure data quality.
  • Lead efforts to resolve data-related issues and discrepancies.

Essential Skills needed to fulfil this role:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; or more than five years of related experience in Data Management, Computer Science, Business operations or IT.
  • 5+ years of experience in data management, data governance, or related roles.
  • Strong knowledge of data governance concepts, data quality frameworks, and industry best practices.
  • Expertise with data privacy regulations such as GDPR, CCPA, etc.
  • Leadership skills to drive data governance initiatives and promote data stewardship across the business.
