Plant Maintenance Electrician

Gates Power Transmission is part of a major international company specialising in the production of Power Transmission belts for the automotive and industrial markets.

As an innovation leader, we are looking for an ambitious, forward-thinking, open-minded, and well-rounded individual to join our local Engineering team. Working full-time on a 12 hour shift pattern in our Dumfries facility, you will be a competent, suitable qualified and experienced individual who can work as part of a team as well as making individual decisions to support ongoing operational demands within the facility.

Responsible for the electrical maintenance (reactive, planned and improvement) of our plant equipment and process machinery including PLC's and Electrical Drive Systems.
• Assisting in training of apprentices, including acting as mentor and defining best practices.
• Installation work (3 phase, single phase and containment) also including network cabling.
• Supporting facility Project/ Task derived work as defined in support of site continual investment.

Educated to City & Guild or SVQ Level 3 (Electrical) and be a time-served electrician.
• Have held a similar role within an Industrial Environment post qualification.
• Detailed understanding of Siemens PLC logic, programming, fault diagnosis and repair.
• Previous work with Industrial Robotics.
• Knowledge of Electrical Control and Electrical Drive systems.
• Be able to understand and update Electrical Schematics and control documentation.
• A working knowledge of PLC's is desirable, preferably Siemens or Beckhoff, training can also be provided.
• Be conversant with Microsoft packages including Word, Excel and Teams.
