Oswestry School is an independent, co-educational day & boarding school, with an 11-18 senior school of c.400 pupils (120 of whom board) and a 4-11 Prep School of c.120 pupils. School Counsellor (Part-time, Self Employed)
Oswestry School is seeking a part-time self-employed School Counsellor to join our counselling team and offer a regular counselling service which will promote and support the personal, social and emotional development and well-being of students, predominantly at the Senior School. They will contribute to raising the level of emotional literacy of the school and be a first-line response to mental health issues.
The successful candidate will work closely with the School’s pastoral and safeguarding teams to develop a programme of therapeutic interventions to support pupils, liaising with and supporting the school staff as well as parents/carers and other professionals. They will work to ensure a collaborative whole-school approach that best supports the pupils in our School. Duties will include writing session notes, planning sessions and updating the school's internal systems.
This role is self-employed. You can choose your working hours but we are especially seeking someone who can work one or two days per week between 8.30 pm, term-time only. You must have a recognised qualification as well as a proven record of counselling children and young people, ideally within schools. An understanding of the developmental, emotional, social and educational issues of children and young people is essential.
