Band 7 Occupational Therapist - Emergency Floor (Royal Liverpool Hospital)

30 hours per week - 12 month fixed term (will consider a secondment)

Liverpool University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (LUHFT).

An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen for an experienced Occupational Therapist to join the Emergency Floor Therapy Team (EFTT). Therapists in the Emergency Department are an integral part of the MDT. Their high-level clinical reasoning, risk identification and problem solving skills enable patients to maintain their independence, avoid admission and to be discharged at the earliest safe opportunity.

We wish to recruit a skilled senior clinician who has a clear understanding of the role of the therapist in this setting. The post holder will lead a team alongside a Band 7 OT and 2 Band 7 physios. The role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to work as an effective member of the wider MDT, including social workers, care coordinators, discharge planning, equipment teams and with external agencies.

LUHFT staff are required to work flexibly, to support seven-day services and shift patterns over an extended working day.

Part time and job shares may be considered.
To be jointly responsible for the Team that provides specialist assessment and treatment of patients within the Emergency Department setting.

To work with the other Band 7 therapy staff in the Emergency Department, the full EFTT, the wider MDT, statutory and voluntary agencies external to the Trust, to provide a quality service that meets the needs of patients and their families.

The post holder will have significant experience working with adults with complex presentations, in particular older people with multiple co-morbidities. We are committed to staff development and training through regular supervision, appraisal and personalised development plans. You will be responsible for the supervision and support of Band 6 Occupational Therapists, Band 5 Occupational Therapists, Students and Therapy Assistants under the guidance of Therapy Managers and Clinical Specialists.
Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust was created on 1 October 2019 following the merger of two adult acute Trusts, Aintree University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust.

The merger provides an opportunity to reconfigure services in a way that provides the best healthcare services to the city and improves the quality of care and health outcomes that patients experience.

The Trust runs Aintree University Hospital, Broadgreen Hospital, Liverpool University Dental Hospital and the Royal Liverpool University Hospital.
