Job PurposeAs a Rigid Pipeline Engineer, you will work on the following main aspects:
- Project support: Expert input to subsea projects to support implementation of new rigid pipeline and riser technologies and to support critical areas of project execution.
- Engineering consolidation: Development of digital/engineering tools and methods to standardize and improve the way we deliver rigid subsea pipelines and risers on projects.
As a Rigid Pipeline Engineer, you may work on the following main axes:
- Project support: Expert input to subsea projects to support critical areas of project execution.
- Engineering consolidation: Development of digital/engineering tools and methods to standardize and improve the way we deliver rigid subsea pipelines and risers on projects.
Project Support Axis:
Pre-execute studies to support front-end and commercial teams through the concept development, FEED and tender phases. Detailed engineering activities to support the execution of projects where novel products, methods, and services are being implemented. Engineering support for critical areas of TechnipFMC project execution. Management of work scopes undertaken by specialist engineering subcontractors.
Engineering Consolidation Axis:
Development of standards, guidelines, and best practices to consolidate, simplify, and standardize the way a subsea pipeline or riser is engineered. Development of engineering tools, including calculation modules developed in Mathcad, Excel/VBA, Python and/or commercial numerical analysis packages (such as ABAQUS and ORCAFLEX), related to subsea pipeline and riser design and installation. Development of procurement specifications and tools. Participation in industry activities where appropriate, including conference presentations and publications, code and standard development.
Main AccountabilitiesQuality of deliverables, Timely delivery, Interface with other technical teams, Communication with internal and external stakeholders.

Travel: Occasional domestic/international travels expected
You are meant for this job if:Essential Qualifications and Experience:
- Must have a good degree (BEng, MEng or equivalent) in a mechanical, structural or related engineering discipline. The degree must contain a thorough grounding in the theory and techniques of mechanical and structural engineering.
- Proven ability to address and solve challenging technical engineering problems.
- Proven ability in engineering analysis.
- High level of numerical ability.
- High level of computational literacy.
- Track record in using industry-recognized engineering critical assessment (ECA) tools and application of these to pipeline ECA problems.
- Knowledge of linear elastic and elastic-plastic fracture mechanics. For senior positions, experience of subsea pipeline/riser engineering with good understanding of relevant design codes, standards, and recommended practices.
Preferred Qualifications and Experiences:
- Postgraduate degree (MSc or PhD) in a mechanical, structural or related engineering subject.
- For senior positions, experience of supervising junior engineers.
- Application of fracture mechanics theory / ECA to reeled pipelines installation problems.
- Practical experience gained either at a pipeline fabrication site and/or offshore pipelay or construction vessel.
- Experience of advanced finite element analysis (FEA), including complex non-linear FEA (large deformation, plasticity, contact problems).
- Track record in using industry standard engineering analysis packages, such as ABAQUS, ORCAFLEX.
- Ability to program in Python, VBA and MathCad.
- Knowledge of basic statistics.
