The Ground Engineering Department have a very diverse range of projects that will support your development whilst enjoying a truly varied experience in the design of offshore wind farms. We invite you as a geotechnical engineer into our team of engineers to contribute to our growing business in offshore wind. The intention is that you play an emerging key role in the delivery of the geotechnical aspects of offshore projects as you develop your skills and capabilities in offshore geotechnical engineering. The ideal candidate would be someone who has preferably completed at least an MSc in geotechnical engineering and has about 2 - 5 years' experience. We are looking for someone who is chartered or has made significant progress towards chartership.

Ramboll is the world leader in offshore foundation design and have performed designs for more than 40 offshore wind farms around the world. This encompasses more than 65% of all offshore installations in the UK, Denmark, USA, China, Belgium and many more.

At the Senior Engineer level, you are expected to ensure the accuracy of technical deliverables and assist in the development of more junior staff. You would also be expected to be chartered or have made progress towards doing so. We will assist in providing the necessary guidance to staff to help deliver projects using the support mechanisms already in place and to progress in your personal development.

Your new role and team
Within the company you will be working alongside the rest of the Ground Engineering team, and teams of all disciplines nationally and internationally across the Ramboll Group. You are encouraged to publish quality papers based on research undertaken on projects or otherwise.

You'll be joining a team of committed and self-driven professionals in a company with ambitious growth plans which is at the forefront of engineering excellence and that is responsible for some of the most exciting offshore projects in the world today. As part of a multidisciplinary project team, you will take on diverse tasks and responsibilities in international projects of varied complexity and scale, such as:

  • Geotechnical design of offshore support structures including numerical modelling
  • Planning and interpretation of offshore geotechnical site surveys
  • Documenting project results as well as attending and conducting project meetings with clients
  • Coordination of project developments in the bid and execution phases
  • Management of the geotechnical discipline within projects
  • Potentially people management responsibility
  • Contribution to technical development
  • Close cooperation with other locations across Europe, Americas and APAC

About you

These include:

  • Knowledge of interpretation of site investigation and laboratory testing for offshore projects
  • Knowledge of offshore foundation design and installation for the Oil & Gas or Renewable Energy industries.
  • MEng in Civil Engineering / MSc in Geotechnical Engineering or similar
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Versed in the MS Office Suite of programs.

The work we do within Ramboll is constantly evolving to meet the needs of the offshore wind industry. As such the ideal candidate will also have one or more of the following:

  • Experience in Finite Element modelling of geotechnical design problems
  • The ability to develop and execute well-structured code in Python, Matlab or other languages
  • A background in researching and developing novel solutions for design
