The Role & Main Duties

  • Ensure processes are correctly documented and controlled.
  • Ensure all relevant documentation is available and being adhered to.
  • Register of all casting formulations.
  • Audit processes to ensure compliance.
  • Identify process critical product and monitor manufacture
  • Inspect product to ensure compliance. This involves daily checks and scrap recording.
  • Emphasis to be on prevention rather than detection.
  • Ensure all aspects of manufacture comply i.e. training records, calibration etc.
  • Responsibilities cover all manufacturing and materials.
  • Close out any SCARs with permanent corrective actions.
  • Understand full customer functionality requirements of product.
  • Establish quality standards / specifications if not clear using ASTM
  • Hold regular customer reviews, agreeing specifications and taking actions in cases of non-compliance.
  • Control changes through PCR. Update system as required.
  • Work with / through company ERP system (CSI 10)
  • Apply DMAIC / PDCA principles to problem solving and business improvement. Data drive solutions.
  • Understand and apply problem solving tools to achieve root cause solutions utilising DOE as required.
  • Create process documentation as applicable.
  • Design and establish standard visual ‘Performance Centres’ for; team dynamics, KPIs and actions plus workplace organisation (6S).
  • Establish a CI improvements display.
  • Identify and facilitate improvement training to drive cultural change across the business.
  • Facilitate a high level of employee participation to foster involvement and ownership.
  • Keep accurate records of all changes / improvements. Create a logical filing system on the network and control access.
  • Ensure that Dynamic Risk Assessments have been completed prior to the start of any project and that a Full Risk Assessment and Safe Work Instruction (SWI) is reviewed, updated and communicated to the team after any improvement.
Experience & Requirements
  • Minimum of 5 years in a Quality Engineers role
  • Must have a strong manufacturing background
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Preferably with an understanding of Polymers / Materials Background
  • Ability to read Engineering drawings
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Can do, proactive attitude
