We are seeking a Head of Finance: Projects to join our finance team. This role will play a pivotal role in supporting financial activities, providing insights for business partnering, driving strategic initiatives, and ensuring financial compliance within the unique landscape of the gaming and betting sector.

Role Overview

This pivotal role requires a seasoned professional capable of providing strategic financial leadership, effective business partnering, and successful execution of transformative initiatives through a finance lens.

As the Head of Finance: Partnering & Controlling (BAU), you will be instrumental in driving financial strategy, fostering business partnerships for corporate functions, and supporting the financial aspects of major transformation programs. In particular, you will be required to partner with both the Group CFO and Group COO as they lead and transform their functions, acting as a robust and practical sounding board as they optimize their cost base and efficiency initiatives alongside the broader transformation change agenda. You will report directly to the Finance Director: Group Functions. Flutter's ambitions are to build a best-in-class function and as such, require benchmarking against other high performing companies to ensure Flutter achieves and maintains cost efficiency in the upper quartile. In addition, you will be required to review all processes both inside and outside the core systems, streamline them, automate reports where possible utilizing technology, Management Information (MI) and Business Insights (BI) in order to elevate the business partnering within the BAU activities. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing financial leadership, strategic guidance and operational support to the Transformation Programs and work in a collaborative manner with the Head of Finance: Projects.

Key responsibilities:

Business Partnering Activities

Effective Relationship Management and Engagement:
  • Build strong relationships with group functions, adapting financial strategies to the dynamic nature of the Company.
  • Act as a financial advisor to business leaders, navigating the challenges and opportunities inherent in the sector.
Risk Management and Opportunity Identification:
  • Identify and manage financial risks and opportunities within the Company's landscape, collaborating with corporate functions and divisional leads to enhance risk mitigation.
  • Proactively identify industry-specific risks and opportunities impacting financial performance.
Challenging Group Budget Holders:
  • Engage with group budget holders, providing insights into industry trends and challenges, and ensuring budgets align with strategic objectives.
  • Challenge assumptions with an understanding of the unique financial considerations in the gaming and betting sector.
Influencing Group Decision-Making:
  • Actively participate in group decision-making, providing industry-specific financial perspectives.
  • Drive financial outcomes aligned with the ever-evolving goals of our gaming and betting organization.
Strategic Activity

Forecasting & Budgeting Cycles:
  • Drive the delivery of the forecasting and budgeting cycles, considering the dynamic nature of the industry that the Company operates in.
  • Provide strategic analysis and recommendations to optimize financial planning processes.
Operational Group Function Investment Cases:
  • Evaluate investment cases for operational group functions within the Company, optimizing returns in a rapidly evolving market.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to align financial strategies with industry trends.
Long Term Plan & Long-Range Plan:
  • Contribute to the development of long-term plans and long-range plans, incorporating industry-specific considerations.
  • Provide financial insights to support strategic planning efforts within the Company and industry.
Month-End / Post Month-End Activity

Month-End Reporting:
  • Prepare and report on month-end reporting activities, ensuring financial reports capture the nuances of the Company and industry.
  • Address variances and discrepancies with industry-specific as well as Company knowledge.
Approval of PO's:
  • Prepare and review purchase orders, considering unique procurement requirements within the Company.
Headcount Forecasting & Approvals:
  • Support the headcount forecasting processes with an understanding of industry-specific staffing needs.
  • Provide support in the approvals for headcount-related decisions.
Capex Posting & Tracking:
  • Oversee capital expenditure posting and tracking, ensuring compliance with financial policies while considering gaming and betting industry dynamics.
  • Monitor capital projects with industry-specific financial insights.
US GAAP Impacts & Potential Reconciliations:
  • Address US GAAP impacts on financial reporting, providing expertise on reconciliations within the gaming and betting sector.
Audit Queries in a US GAAP/US Listed Company:
  • Manage audit queries within the unique context of a US GAAP/US listed gaming and betting company, ensuring compliance.
Qualifications
  • 5-10 Years experience in a Finance Controller or Head of Area role
  • Strong understanding of financial management, budgeting, and strategic financial planning
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex financial data for strategic decision-making.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to contribute to the overall business strategy of the organization
  • In-depth understanding of SEC reporting requirements, regulations, and transformation program finance preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field; MBA or other advanced degree preferred
  • ACCA/CPA or equivalent certification preferred
