The successful candidate will be responsible for a wide variety of tasks, ensuring the school remains clean, safe, and functional.
This role requires someone who is proactive, organised, and able to manage multiple responsibilities efficiently.
Daily Responsibilities: Opening and Closing: Open all entry doors at 8:00 am and front gates at 8:45 am.
Close all gates and doors after break and lunch periods.
Pick up rubbish outside the school while opening gates each morning.
Cleaning and Rubbish Collection: Empty classroom and staffroom bins daily.
Pick up rubbish in all yards after every break and lunch.
Collect leftover lunches, compost, and recycling from each class.
Ensure clear bags are used for big recycling bins.
Lunch Distribution: Distribute lunches, fruit, and milk to classrooms.
Collect them after lunch when children go to the yard.
Gates Management: Open and close front gates before and after break and lunch times.
Classroom Supplies: Deliver toilet rolls and hand towels to classrooms on Mondays and Wednesdays.
Refill toilet rolls, hand towels, and soap in all staff toilets regularly.
Regular Inspections and Maintenance: Monitor the school for maintenance issues and carry out minor repairs.
Clean up after accidents (e.g., if a child is sick) and assist with general cleaning.
Weekly Responsibilities: Yard and Bin Maintenance: Sweep yards, bin storage areas, and paths outside the school.
Ensure all bins, including yard bins, are emptied regularly, and disinfected as needed.
Staffroom and Toilets: Refill supplies in staff toilets and check soap dispensers weekly.
Waste Management: Put out wheelie bins on Wednesday afternoon for Thursday morning collection.
Additional Responsibilities: Repairs and Emergencies: Regularly inspect the school for damage or vandalism and perform necessary repairs.
Notify the Principal if professional assistance is required.
Assist with fire drills by setting off the fire alarm.
Event Setup: Organise the hall and art room for events at the request of staff.
Garden Maintenance: Trim shrubs and manage weeds in and around the school grounds.
Deliveries: Assist with distributing large deliveries to the appropriate locations within the school.
Skills and Qualifications: Experience: Previous experience in a caretaker or similar role is preferred.
Basic repair and maintenance skills.
Physical Fitness: Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks as required.
Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with school staff and respond to emergencies.
Organisational Skills: Capable of multitasking and adhering to a structured daily schedule.
Attention to Detail: High level of attention to cleanliness, safety, and organisation.
Hours: Monday to Friday Start time: 8:00 am End time: 2.40pm Salary and Benefits: Competitive salary based on experience.
