Job Description

Are you a qualified Gas Engineer looking to be upskilled to become a fully qualified Dual Fuel Smart Meter Engineer? MPAAS is delighted to offer an opportunity for qualified and experienced gas engineers to join our upskill course.

The postcodes we are recruiting in are: EC, E, W, WC, HA, EN, NW, SW, N. Over the past 12 months, we have experienced significant growth, increasing our overall headcount by over 125%. With multiple Smart Metering contracts in both domestic and I&C metering, along with our new EV department, it’s a great time to join MPAAS.

Once qualified, you will be traveling around a specific area fitting both gas and electric smart meters into customers' homes on behalf of some of the largest energy suppliers in the UK. You will be provided with all tools and equipment needed for the role, including a company van, fuel card, mobile phone, and tools.

Details of the Upskill Course

The course will start on Monday, 24 June 2024. However, your first day will be Friday, 21 June 2024, as you will be required to travel to our head office in Haydock, Merseyside. Here you will meet numerous staff members and go through a company induction. You will also receive your new company vehicle, fuel card, uniform, mobile, and tools. You will then begin the 10-week training course, which will include a mixture of classroom and field-based training. The classroom-based sessions will mainly take place at Logic Training's Luton site. All training expenses are covered by MPAAS, and accommodation will be provided if necessary.

Salary & Benefits

Starting Salary: £34,000 (including £4,000 London Weighting)
Salary once qualified: £41,000 (including £4,000 London Weighting)
Working Hours: Monday-Friday, 42.5 hours per week, 8am-5.30pm (1-hour lunch break)
Holidays: 23 days + 8 bank holidays (increasing to 25 with length of service)

Once you are qualified and working in the field, you will have the opportunity to increase your earnings with the following bonuses:

  1. Daily Meter Fitting Bonus Structure: £20 per meter after the 5th meter (e.g., 3 Duals = £20, 4 Duals = £60)
  2. Attendance Bonus: £300 per month
  3. Health & Safety Bonus: £2,000 (Paid £500 per quarter)
  4. Overtime opportunities: £110 per dual
What We Require From You
  • Gas qualified – CCN1 & MET1
  • 12 months+ experience working as a gas engineer via an established business
  • Any experience working on gas meters will be beneficial
  • Full manual driving license with no more than 6 points
  • Must be willing to complete the full 10-week training with no annual leave booked
  • Must be willing to travel – There may be occasions when you are in the field mentoring that you may have to travel and stay over due to the availability of engineers in your location
  • Must complete a DBS with no unspent convictions

As part of the recruitment process, you will be required to attend an assessment day where you will complete numerous tasks associated with gas installation to demonstrate your competency.
