Fitzpatrick Referrals is opening one ECVN residency position, starting in October 2024.
The three-year residency programme involves working as part of the neurology team at Fitzpatrick Referrals to provide the highest standard of care to our patients and clients. The resident will have the opportunity to learn and partake in some of the world’s most innovative and advanced neurosurgical procedures, some of which are unique to our hospital. As the neurology resident, you will partake in the small animal neurology referral service, including contributing to the out-of-hours emergency service.
The successful applicant will be trained by and work alongside Dr Nadia Shihab (MA VetMB DipECVN PGCertSAECC MRCVS) and Dr Katia Marioni-Henry (Dr.Med.Vet. PhD DipACVIM(Neurology) DipECVN SFHEA MRCVS) as well as our two neurology registrars; Dr Marc Pérez Soteras and Dr Carina Black. The neurology team is supported by two neurology interns and a neurology nurse. The facilities include 1.5T MRI, 160 slice CT, electrophysiology, onsite 3D printer and off-site custom implant design services.
The residency programme will also involve completing rotations and placements at other veterinary practices, hospitals and facilities to meet the requirements of the ECVN.
Applicants must have completed at least one internship; a neurology internship would be preferable, but a rotating internship that included a neurology rotation would also be beneficial. Applicants must also have no restrictions on employment in the United Kingdom and be eligible to be a member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. Clinical experience in first opinion practice is desirable. Excellent command of the English language is mandatory.
