Head of Digital, Security and IT

We are a new government arm’s length body supporting the delivery of Britain’s energy security and net zero, making sure that we can power Britain from Britain sustainably. It has been set up to turn nuclear ambition into reality. The Head of Digital, Cyber Security and IT plays a pivotal role in shaping the digital future of our organisation. You will leverage your expertise in digital technologies, strategic vision, and a deep understanding of the nuclear sector to lead a comprehensive digital transformation journey.
Your problem-solving skills, leadership acumen, and focus on innovation will be crucial for leveraging digital solutions to improve operational efficiency, enhance safety protocols, and ensure the long-term sustainability of our nuclear operations.
Your leadership of our Cyber capability will ensure we mitigate risk and deliver a secure Digital Environment. The annual contract for the maximum usage will be at least £6 million a year.
Develop and implement a comprehensive digital and cyber security strategy aligned with the overall business goals, considering the unique challenges and opportunities of the nuclear industry.
Identify opportunities to leverage digital technologies to improve operational efficiency, optimise resource allocation, and enhance safety protocols within our operations and future nuclear sites.
Lead and manage a team of Chief Information Security Officer, digital specialists, IT delivery managers, cyber specialists, and business analysts to develop and implement innovative digital solutions.
Analyse data and user needs to identify areas for improvement and translate them into actionable digital transformation initiatives.
Manage and prioritise digital projects, mitigating risks and ensuring successful implementation within budget and timelines.
Evaluate and recommend the adoption of new digital technologies, ensuring they comply with nuclear industry regulations and security best practices.
Champion a culture of innovation and continuous improvement across the organisation, fostering collaboration between digital, IT, and business units.
Lead the digital transformation process, securing buy-in and resources from senior management and stakeholders.
Communicate the value proposition of digital technologies to diverse audiences, clearly articulating the benefits for improved safety, efficiency, and long-term sustainability.
Develop and deliver communication plans to keep all stakeholders informed of the progress and impact of the digital transformation journey.
Track the success of digital transformation initiatives and measure their impact on safety, efficiency, regulatory compliance, and overall organisational performance.
Stay up-to-date on evolving digital trends and regulations in the nuclear sector, adapting the digital strategy and solutions accordingly.
Accountable for the maintenance of all IT services to both our organisation and also the Development Companies (Dev Cos).
Proven track record of experience of experience in leading digital transformation initiatives, preferably within the nuclear industry (or another complex, highly regulated sector).
Possess a deep understanding of emerging digital technologies, including artificial intelligence, machine learning, cyber security, cloud computing, and the Internet of Things (IoT) in the context of the nuclear industry.
In-depth knowledge of IT infrastructure, cybersecurity principles, and their application within the nuclear sector.
Familiarity with relevant nuclear industry regulations and compliance standards that may impact digital transformation initiatives.
Strong understanding of business strategy, digital marketing, and data-driven decision making in a complex and highly regulated environment.
Proven track record of successfully developing and implementing digital strategies that deliver tangible business value.
Strong understanding of digital technologies and their practical applications within the nuclear industry.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify opportunities for improvement and develop data-driven solutions.
Degree in a related field with a focus on digital technologies preferred or comparable professional experience.
