Regulatory Strategy Manager

We are happy to be recruiting for one of our high-profile utilities clients. They are currently looking for a Regulatory Strategy Manager to join them for an initial 6-month contract. However, there may be scope for extension.

About The Role:

In this role you will be a voice of the consumer within our project development and delivery teams, each of which is responsible for delivering a capital project of between £100m and circa £4bn in value. You will help each team you support to understand how they can maximise the value they deliver to end customers. And you will work independently to lead the development of solutions to complex consumer value or regulatory challenges which cross over multiple projects, coordinating colleagues and external stakeholders and providing thought leadership.

About You:

You will be educated to degree level in a Science, Technology, Engineering, Economics, Business or related discipline or have an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience and have relevant industry experience.

Experience Required:

  • Extensive experience of working in a UK Regulated environment.
  • Experience of leading complex processes to drive choices on complex value trade-offs, for example: in corporate strategy, in mergers and acquisitions, by acting as a regulator, in development of business cases for large capital projects or an equivalent role.
  • Experience of leading successful engagements with challenging and demanding external stakeholders on issues of substantial importance to your employer’s future business.
  • A knowledge and awareness of at least some of the value drivers for Electricity Transmission reinforcements – e.g. large project construction drivers, transmission network cost drivers, transmission network benefits (inc. wholesale market drivers).
  • An ability to work independently to bring together and drive ad-hoc teams to solve complex problems related to value or to regulatory submissions.
  • Strong experience of steering virtual teams (including teams you don’t lead) to ensure they deliver business critical outcomes.
  • Ability to influence executive leaders and external senior stakeholders, gain credibility quickly, inspire trust and confidence in delivery and counsel.
  • A good understanding of commercial value and an ability to rapidly understand commercial value drivers in a new context.
  • A collaborative personality able to quickly build effective partnerships with others around the business and a strong team culture within a matrixed organisation.
  • Strong strategic thinking combined with excellence in tactical implementation.
  • Highly motivated and organised with a high level of attention to detail, financial acumen, and strong numeracy skills.
  • Results orientated, consistently managing timely delivery in a challenging environment whilst dealing with rapid change and ambiguity.
  • An understanding of the broad principles of project and risk management.
  • Good leadership, relationship, communication and presentation skills combined with a good track record of dealing with commercial issues.
  • Team working to promote team effectiveness by listening to input from team members, encouraging others and putting forward ideas which bring effective collaboration and knowledge sharing.

Location:

This is a predominately remote working role. However with a requirement to work from either the clients Warwick or London office approximately 1 day a month.

Working hours:

Standard working hours with some flex where required.
