Our client is one of the leading plumbing & heating merchants in the UK and are actively involved in driving & supporting the UKs consumers & installers journey into the world of renewables. Due to continued growth and a newly formed Renewables team our client is looking for a Renewables Technical Design Engineer to be based from their offices in Leicester.

As a key member of the renewables department, you will be responsible for designing heating & mechanical solutions for our customers projects. Our expertise will be critical in the development of our strategy to provide a best in class offering to our internal and external customers alike.

Responsibilities of a Technical Design Engineer:

  • Youll work as part of a team to design & specify low carbon technologies.
  • We will provide full training & support around renewable technologies we sell giving you the confidence to offer solutions to our customers.
  • Work with clients to establish their requirements, working closely with our external sales teams to ensure all projects are completed on time.
  • Youll review and collaborate on technical specifications and mechanical drawings to find the best fit solution for each project.
  • Manage the production of 2D Cad drawings and renewables technical specifications for underfloor heating, heat pumps & ventilation systems.
  • Specification of the designs & work closely with the rest of the team to produce technical quotations to a high standard.
  • Ensuring that all designs adhere to relevant local & national regulations, and standards.
  • Handling and dealing with customer enquiries & queries effectively and efficiently.
  • Work with suppliers to identify and source components to drive innovation and competitive solutions.

Skills:

  • Being able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Customer first approach.
  • Good literacy & communication skills.
  • Good understanding of Microsoft Excel.
  • To work effectively & collaborate in a team environment.
  • If you have knowledge of and a basic competency in plumbing & heating it would be a benefit.
  • Again, if you have knowledge & experience with hydraulic systems design & industry standards around Building Regulations (Pt L, PT F & Pt O), MCS (Micro-certification scheme), MIS3005 standards, BPEC Level 3 in heat pump technology
  • Ideally you will be educated to HNC level in a heating engineering discipline, or equivalent
  • Experience of 2D design packages
  • Previous experience working in the renewables sector
