Abatec is currently recruiting for an experienced Electrical Test & Inspection Lead to join the first new nuclear power station to be built in the UK in over 20 years. Hinkley Point C in Somerset will provide low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes, create thousands of jobs, and bring lasting benefits to the UK economy.

As Electrical Test and Inspection Lead you will provide expert knowledge regarding the on-site testing and inspection of all electrical installations, including instrumentation and control (I&C) and building services systems.

We welcome CVSs from applicants who live outside of commuting distance of Bridgwater as our client will pay accommodation subsistence.

As Electrical Test and Inspection Lead you will:

  • Be responsible for implementing safety systems in compliance with the Electrical at Work Regulation 1989, the Electricity Safety Quality and Continuity Regulations 2002, and The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
  • Work with the installation team and support them in implementing BS7671 and RCC-E requirements relating to the test and inspection of electrical systems.
  • Monitor the status of the testing and inspection of electrical installations.
  • Attend stakeholder meetings and represent our client in all matters relating to electrical testing and inspection.
  • Engage with project management and the planning team in promoting realistic energisation timelines.

Our client requires Electrical Engineers with:

  • HND/Degree in Electrical Engineering (or relevant experience)
  • Working knowledge of BS7671 testing requirements
  • BS7671 18th edition qualification
  • City and Guilds 2391 (18th edition)
  • A working knowledge of electrical safe systems of work, including lock-out and isolation procedures
  • Capable of obtaining security clearance of BPSS or higher.
  • IT Skills
