We’re currently assisting a growing, customer-focused, accountancy services practice in Leicester with their recruitment for an Internal Accountant to aid the Finance Director for a period up to 7-8 months.

What to expect:

  • Monday to Friday, 8.30am – 4.45pm full-time (37.5 hours)

Duties and responsibilities:

The focus of the role is to support positive cash flow, drive efficiencies and prepare accurate and timely management reports and forecasts.

  • Preparation of accurate and insightful monthly management accounts, KPIs and forecasts
  • Preparing regular cashflow forecasts and proactively managing bank accounts
  • Preparation of year end statutory accounts and supporting file
  • Process the monthly payroll (70 employees) (desirable not essential)
  • Accurate submission of VAT, PAYE and pension declarations
  • Ensuring all statutory payments are made accurately and on time
  • Support finance team processing purchase and sales ledger, bank reconciliations, credit control, monthly direct debits, invoicing and banking
  • Completion of the ICAEW Annual Returns for submission
  • Completion of the annual PI insurance declarations
  • Providing full support to the Finance Director

Skills and experience required:

  • Relevant experience in a similar accounting role preferably with exposure to working within an accountancy practice
  • Professional qualification / qualified by experience
  • Be a competent user of Xero (IRIS, Sage line 50, Paycircle and HSBCnet knowledge an advantage)
  • Have very strong IT skills with advanced Excel, including the ability to analyse and transform data using pivot tables and other techniques
  • Have knowledge of generally accepted accounting practices and methods
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills together with a growth mindset
