Job Description

We are looking for a Technical Lead / Design Manager to join out client in Burton on Trent. The ideal candidate will be an experienced Technical Engineer with at least 10 to 15 years’ experience designing components and experience in mentoring/ leading a team.

Job Description: As Technical Lead, you will play a pivotal role in the development and enhancement of our key product line. With a focus on Designing components, your responsibilities will include:

  • Ownership: Lead the design process for a crucial product line, ensuring excellence at every stage in a hands on role
  • Customer Interaction: Act as the primary interface for customers, providing in-depth product knowledge and supporting the Production department.
  • Engineering Excellence: Undertake Engineering Change requests and meticulously manage Bill of Materials (BOM).
  • Collaboration: Liaise with various departments, including purchasing and production, to deliver designs from concept to completion.
  • Manufacturing Expertise: Apply your proficiency in manufacturing methods, encompassing injection moulded plastic, casting, and precision-machined components.

Key Attributes:

  • Expertise: Demonstrate 10 to 15 years of hands-on experience in Mechanical Design Engineering, holding positions such as Design Manager, Senior/ Principal/ Lead/ Chief Engineer.
  • CAD Proficiency: Display proficiency in Solidworks, though consideration will be given to candidates with expertise in alternative CAD packages like Inventor or Creo.
  • Electro-Mechanical Acumen: Possess essential knowledge and experience with Electro-Mechanical components.
