We are a friendly and supportive service in Darlington, County Durham, supporting a wonderful group of people with a learning disability to live their lives as independently as possible. The visits would start at the gentlemen's home here you can get to know them more alongside the wonderful support staff.

We support a lovely group a gentlemen with a learning disability who are looking for male peer support and friendship to attend activities and share their interests. This would include going to the pub, watching films at the cinema, playing pool in the pub, or general socializing. Your involvement will bring joy and new horizons into their lives. This role is ideal for someone looking to make friends in their local community and has good knowledge of the local area. There will be an option to support with staff on trips away, expenses would be provided and discussed with you prior.

We are looking for volunteers who are:

  • Friendly and approachable
  • Reliable and patient
  • Able to work as part of a team
  • Accepting of others who might be different to yourself
  • Able to take instructions
