Arxada Wood Protection EMEA invites applications for a Senior Product Development Chemist position in Manchester, UK. You'll spearhead the design and testing of novel biocidal wood products, ensuring compliance with European regulatory guidelines. Your responsibilities will include formulating, stability testing, and conducting scale-up trials, all crucial for maintaining our market leadership position. This role involves close collaboration with internal teams such as regulatory, procurement, and customer services within our project management stage gate process, ensuring successful product delivery to the market.
Utilise a wide range of analytical testing methods including XRF, HPLC, LCMS and GC
Encompass applications testing of these products which includes treatment of wood and setting up efficacy studies
Understand the context in which development projects evolve within critical and complex regulatory guidelines and customer/region specific requirements
Foster strong relationships and collaborate with regulatory, procurement and customer support teams for the successful completion of development projects
Identify new vendors and strategic partners for the development of novel wood preservatives
Preparation technical reports, presentations and other management/administrative tasks related to EMEA R&D function
Degree in a science discipline – Chemistry and/or higher qualification level preferred
Minimum 5 years’ of industrial experience as Research and Development Scientist (wood science, agrochemicals and pharmaceuticals preferred)
Formulation of complex mixtures of actives with disparate physical/chemical properties
Understands the science behind the use of modern analytical instrumentation in this field and be able to apply it in the laboratory
Excellent organizational / planning skills and to develop good working relationships
Be an integral part on the development of products that promote sustainable preservation of a renewable source material as wood.
Develop products and solutions that have a direct impact on timber finished products in the market (e.g. constructions materials, cladding, transmission poles)
Work in a collaborative environment with primary focus on the preservations of different materials and substrates, using our modern and fully equipped laboratory facilities.
