Role: Paraplanner

Department: Financial Planning

Location: London

Contract Type: Permanent

Reporting into:Paraplanning Manager

Working arrangements: Hybrid

The Role

Working closely with the Financial Planner and the Client Support Team to deliver an excellent client experience throughout the advice and review proposition.

To draft clear, succinct, and effective advice that includes all the issues that the client should be aware of with firm conclusions and recommendations.

Outcomes of the Role

  • Be responsible for creating and delivering high quality advice and service to clients of RFP

  • Accompany the Financial Planner to client meetings, prepare meeting notes and conduct research required to deliver advice and reviews for RFP clients

  • Work with the Financial Planner and all stakeholders to enable delivery of the income objectives for the team

  • Brief the Financial Planner on individual client issues to be discussed at meetings

  • Contact clients to obtain data or clarify issues

  • Proactively work with the Paraplanning Manager and team colleagues to ensure best practice ideas are shared amongst the team.

  • To highlight any improvements to processes, templates and tools to the Paraplanning Manager ensure that they are constantly improving the delivery of excellent client advice.

  • Manage own work, set and meet realistic expectations given to advisers and managers. Ensure a commercial and pragmatic approach to workflow management.

  • Actively contribute to the success of the team through adoption and promotion of new practices, positive outlook and teamwork.

  • Maintain effective working relationships with other teams within Rathbones

  • Proactively and continually expand ones knowledge by investigating new developments in the tax, legal and planning world.

Qualifications

  • CII Diploma in Financial Planning or equivalent (Essential)

  • CII Chartered Financial Planner status (desirable)

Knowledge & Experience

  • Minimum 2-3 years experience as a Paraplanner

  • Experience of working as part of a team of paraplanners with a paraplanning manager.

  • Experience of working with centrally devised tools, templates and guidance.

  • Experience of managing own work queue and being responsible for the quality of work produced.

  • High level of technical language of UK tax regime including CGT, IHIT, SPLT

  • High level of technical knowledge in relation to all types of pension arrangements

  • High level of technical knowledge in relation to all aspects of estate planning
