Principal Accountant

We are proud to be partnering with a Local Authority in the South West , who are looking to appoint a Principal Accountant within the Capital directorate on an interim basis until June 2025 .
This will be a full-time position, with very flexible hybrid working and a flexible daily rate (c.£300-£500/day umb) dependent on experience.
The successful candidate must have experience within Capital Accounting .
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
- Supporting change through the adaption to a new finance system being implemented in 2024
- Maintaining core capital activities during the period of system change
- Supporting the delivery of medium term and annual budgets, reporting of financial performance during year end and maintain capital financial controls
- Responsibility for a portfolio of capital projects, providing strategic support to colleagues
- Direct line management of one report
- Providing capital finance advice including financial modelling, assessments of profit and loss, forecasting, understanding overheads and operating costs
Experience required:
- Experience within Capital Accounting is essential
- Local Gov/ Public sector experience
