About this role:

At Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust we have a simple mission – Personal and Compassionate Care Every Time. Volunteers help to enhance the patient experience and complement the work of paid members of staff.We are looking for volunteers for the Voluntary Services Office at Amersham Hospital.

Post-holders will support the Voluntary Services team in providing a good service to the Trust’s volunteers, particularly those at Stoke Mandeville. Voluntary Services volunteers need to be comfortable with working alone in the office as well as with others and will need to have experience of being in an administrative role.

This role would suit someone who is friendly, encouraging and has good communication skills. Training and ongoing support will be provided
Commitment: At least one morning or afternoon each week (Wednesday or Friday.).

  • What are the key tasks?
    Providing information to volunteers who call into the office.
  • Answering the telephone.
  • Look up and add information on the database.
  • Passing on queries to staff members when appropriate.
  • Updating staff members on any new information.
  • Sending out emails or letters to volunteers.
  • Contacting new volunteers to ensure all is going well.
  • Collating information.
  • Other administrative tasks as required.
  • Assisting with the volunteers’ events
  • What skills, knowledge and experience are helpful in this role?
  • Motivation and willingness to learn and complete training.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Understanding of confidentiality and sensitivity.
  • Friendly and approachable.
  • Good interpersonal skills and able to interact with a diverse range of people.
  • Understands the importance of commitment.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Experience of an administrative role.
  • Good IT skills/ familiar with Microsoft Office.
  • Would understand and apply CARE values.
  • A DBS check is required for this role.

Essential requirement/commitment:

  • Volunteers must be a minimum of 18 years of age
  • All Volunteers will require a DBS check.
  • Participation in the training relevant to your role and confidential discussion of any reasonable adjustments required to meet your needs.
