About the Role

Hipcamp is looking for a Full Stack Software Engineer to join Camp Supply on our distributed Engineering team. The ideal candidate has 2-3+ years of experience with full stack development and is proficient in Ruby on Rails and TypeScript + React. Camp Supply’s goal is to grow and nurture our community of Hipcamp Hosts. We do this by building high-quality tools for our hosts to manage their listings, calendars, messages, bookings, and payments both on the web and in the app. We also integrate with property management systems to support our professional hosts and commercial campgrounds.

What success looks like:

You partner closely with cross-functional stakeholders (product, design, data) to build a product that exceeds the expectations of our campers and hosts

You partner closely with other engineers to implement end-to-end new features in the product

You propose innovative and creative ideas that lead to a product that delights our customers and creates business impact

You raise the bar on quality, testing, and performance to ensure the product reliably performs for our community

You help develop best practices and standards to uplevel our team

You own outages and failures by participating in an on-call rotation with the rest of the team

You continually improve our codebase and systems to increase team velocity and scale

You foster an inclusive, supportive, and positive environment that is great to work in

What sets you up for success:

Significant experience with Ruby on Rails and TypeScript + React (or ability to ramp up very quickly)

Proficiency in both front-end and back-end architecture

Strong communication skills, written and verbal

Experience with APIs and integrations

Comfort working in a fast-paced and dynamic startup environment

Comfort collaborating with a distributed team

Comfort working with applications and systems at scale

Compensation will be a mix of salary and stock options. It is based on your location and will be highly competitive compared to similar-stage companies.
