United Kingdom Shared Intelligence Full time €25,650

**READ THIS FIRST** How to apply

We will only consider applications by email to solutions@sharedintelligence.net with your CV (max 2 pages) and a covering statement (max 250 words) explaining your relevant experience and how you would apply this to the role.

About us

Shared Intelligence is a small staff-owned economic development, public policy and research consultancy based in London. Our clients are central and local government, public bodies and charities.

We believe in a collaborative working style and using high quality evidence to support decision-making. Joining Shared Intelligence, you will have the opportunity to work across the company and gain a broad range of experience.

This is a London-based role in our modern co-working space on Borough High Street where you will have regular daily contact with the entire team including Directors. We operate hybrid working with all staff spending time in the office each week, combined with working from home, and working on site with clients or undertaking fieldwork.

Economic and Social Policy Consultant

We are looking to recruit a recent graduate to support our work for clients on UK economic and social policy, and evaluation.

Candidates must be:

● self-motivated, organised, and quick learners.

● able to work in a team and under their own initiative.

● committed to equality and inclusion and our ethos of collaboration with our clients.

You will have a line manager to oversee your personal development, help you manage your workload, and be your first point of contact within the company. You will also work to different project managers, and it is likely that you will work on more than one project at a time.

We will expect you to take an active interest in UK social and economic policy and public services and to advance your own learning in these areas. We will support you where possible to attend work-related conferences and events.

Person specification

You will need:

● A Bachelor’s degree at 2:1 or above ideally in the social sciences.

● To be able to work in a digital environment (i.e. fully competent in spreadsheets, web search, document creation, email, presentation apps, online meetings, and data handling).

● The right to work in the UK.

Furthermore, we expect candidates to demonstrate:

● The ability to design and apply quantitative research methods using UK sources of economic, demographic and health data.

● The ability to apply qual and quant methods to conduct literature reviews, design research samples, conduct surveys (paper and online), create topic guides, and set up systems for data capture and analysis.

● Excellent analytical skills, and experience creating and presenting findings from raw data.

● Good basic knowledge of UK economic and social policy at national and local level.

● The ability to write for a professional audience.

● Strong interpersonal skills.

● The ability to self-task, organise multiple tasks, and work to deadlines.

● An appetite to learn how to write competitive tenders, win work, and represent the company in business development.

Key Responsibilities

We do not expect you to be an expert in all these areas. We are looking for someone who is keen to learn, can learn quickly, and has the confidence and flexibility to work across a number of projects.

● Supporting directors and project managers on project design and delivery.

● Assisting and conducting primary and secondary research, including desk-based research, secondary research, and face-to-face fieldwork, workshops and events.

● Analysing qualitative and quantitative data to contribute to well-evidenced research findings, conclusions and recommendations.

● Providing administrative and project-coordination support where required, e.g. setting up interviews and focus groups, liaising with clients.

● Supporting business relationships with clients, and developing skills to build impactful professional relationships.

● Developing business skills in a consultancy environment, including project management and work-winning.

Terms and next steps

This is a full-time permanent role subject to a probation period, with a salary range starting at £25,650 depending on experience.

Staff benefits include: 29 days leave per year (increasing to 31 after 2 years), bonuses based on company performance, pension contributions from the company, hybrid working, phone and home-working allowances, childcare vouchers, cycle to work schemes, and travelcard loan scheme. We are committed to ongoing professional development.
