The MAIN sector we currently operate within is Automotive (LV Contracting & Passive Network Infrastructure). We are currently looking for a Junior Contract Engineer.

The Junior Contracts Engineer is a key position within our business. Supporting the Senior Contracts Engineer / Sector Manager across a range of projects and key customers.

Key Objectives

  • Support SCE in developing projects and tenders. 
  • Support and oversee successful delivery of projects to scope, target cost, quality, programme and completion encompassing design, engineering, program delivery, handover and commercial aspects 
  • Liaise with external consultants or contractors engaged in providing technical support activities to the project
  • Responsible for all safety, health, environment and quality matters including driving excellence and championing continuous improvement related to the projects and other activities within job role

Responsibilities 

  • Supporting Contract Engineer on projects and tenders in terms of financial performance, deadline compliance and technical performance of the work.
  • Supervised management of projects under SCE authority, covering all day to day activities including health & safety of site operatives and subcontractors.
  • Verifies & validates sales orders before acknowledging receipts.
  • Quarterly Account Closing of projects including forecast estimates. 
  • Manages the procurement and purchases for project.
  • Responsible for the technical aspects of the project either directly or under direction of Contract Engineer.
  • Customer interface for own projects 
  • Actively drives own individual commercial action plan and personal management with robust SMART objectives reviewed as minimum on 6 monthly basis (quarterly in year 1)
  • Maintaining contract document control in line with all relevant systems and procedures e.g. Integrated Business Management System (IBMS) including but not limited to ISO14001, ISO9001, OHSAS
  • Develop and manage key customer relationships, through regular reviews of contract performance with customers, understanding and managing needs and gaps
  • Degree or HNC/HND qualified in Electrical engineering or equivalent technical discipline / experience would be ideal
  • Absolute and no compromise approach to Health, Safety and Wellbeing
  • Excellent organisational, planning and activity management skills; able to manage multiple projects simultaneously without compromising on standards and quality
  • Good understanding of commercial issues affecting project performance and experience in assessing value / evaluating variations of works undertaken
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with contractors and their employees at all levels
  • Calm professional manner, but able to take firm and timely decisions
  • Positive 'can do' attitude, be proactive to identify and resolve problems
  • Ability to deliver / support delivery of projects to demanding deadlines
  • Ability to develop collaborative and professional customer focused relationships
  • Good management skills, with the ability to motivate colleagues, peers and project teams
  • Excellent communications skills; ability to simplify complex concepts both orally and in written form
  • Able to work extended and/or unsocial hours to the full requirements of the role
