The NCA are delighted to offer an opportunity to join our midwifery leadership team as our Postnatal Ward Manager.

As our postnatal ward manager you will provide clinical leadership and expertise to our postnatal ward team and will drive the delivery of high quality, safe and individualised care.

Main duties of the job

The practitioner should be an expert in the assessment, planning and implementation of all areas of postnatal care, from admission to discharge which facilitates clinical practice development.

They will manage the ward and staff, including appraisals, rotas recruitment and selection and supervision of learners.

Support midwives and lead midwives in the delivery of safe evidence-based woman centred care which is of a high standard.

They are responsible for ensuring all care is delivered according to Trust policies and procedures maintaining records.

Utilising clinical audit, research supervision of practice and teaching they will monitor and improve standards of care using efficient and effective resources.

This vacancy is open to those who have a current NMC PIN to practice as an Registered Nurse or Midwife in the UK, or those who are currently enrolled on a course which means they expect to receive their full NMC PIN within the next 3 months. Please note an NMC PRN PIN is not a full NMC PIN and would not fulfil the essential criteria for this role.

The NCA can no longer accept applications from International Nurses and Midwives who are yet to complete all competencies needed to receivea full NMC PIN to practice in the UK as we have paused our OSCE programme indefinitely.
