Computer Friendly is a non-profit organisation with a team of 50 + friendly volunteer trainers who help adults learn how to use smartphones, tablets/iPads, laptops and the Internet in a less formal, hands-on way. We run about 50 courses a year in Harpenden and St Albans: Our popular ‘Starting Off With…’ courses are designed for people completely new to their Windows laptop, iPad/iPhone or Android phone/tablet. History using the Internet’,‘Photography on iPad/iPhone’ and ‘Stay Safe Online’. Youdon’t need to be an expert to help on many of our courses, and we can help fill in any gaps you may have to help with the courses.
Computer Friendly would also welcome Volunteers to help run our Drop In sessions. A level of knowledge of technology is helpful as well as confidence and patience with in dealing with the people who have issues with mobile phones/Tablets/Computers.
Our customers come to us with every sort of computer problem that you can imagine and some that you cannot You don’t have to be an expert in everything but patience and a desire to help others is key. Your skills may be Windows, Android tablets, phones, iPads, Software or Social Media apps. Please visit our website for more information on what we do and how to volunteer.
What volunteers need Disclosure and Barring Service
Computer Friendly is a non-profit organisation staffed with friendly and experienced unpaid volunteers. We have been delivering low cost computer training in the community since 2002, to adults who may want an alternative to more formal or commercial courses. Our objective is to help anyone in St Albans and District, including disadvantaged and excluded people, to gain computer skills. We use premises in St Albans, London Colney, Wheathampstead, Flamstead, Harpenden and Redbourn to provide weekly Drop-In Centres for information, advice & guidance, and deliver 50 courses each year for beginners, as well as diverse Internet-based leisure courses.
