The Legal Team plays an important role in supporting the business to be able to deliver its high quality, essential services and takes pride in seeing its work contributing to the protection of the health of customers, colleagues and the environment. The successful candidate will work with our in-house solicitors to support Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water’s operating teams including on regulatory and environmental prosecutions; property and commercial disputes; and environmental law. Providing pragmatic, commercial and user-friendly legal advice on a variety of contentious and non-contentious matters affecting Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water’s Water, Waste and Retail businesses. 
Advising on Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water’s statutory powers and responsibilities in relation to water and sewerage assets, for example, to support obtaining access to land to enable their repair, maintenance and development.
Preparing cases to support Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water in the exercise of its statutory powers of prosecution where its assets have been compromised or placed at risk. 
Supporting Estates and Capital Delivery teams in facilitating and delivering Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water’s Asset Management Programme, to enable the enhancement and maintenance of its networks and to support its ambition of becoming a world class, resilient and sustainable water service for future generations.
Advising on Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water’s statutory charging powers and supporting claims for unpaid charges to ensure that its essential services can continue to be funded. 
Advising on environmental law and working with Counsel on related contentious matters. 
Supporting teams to prepare responses to complaints from customers and third parties that require legal interpretation. 
Undertaking legal research and gathering information from a variety of sources for the purposes of providing advice.
The Legal Team
Operational teams from Water, Waste, Developer Services and Retail business areas as well as Estates team. 
Collections and Insurance teams. 
Members of legal teams at other water and sewerage companies
Law firms on the Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water legal panel 
Be a qualified Solicitor with PQE (PQE is a guide and other relevant skills, and experience will be considered) and working in a firm, or an in-house legal team.
Be able to deliver accurate and reliable advice, in a user-friendly format, whilst building in practical and commercial solutions and developing working relationships built on trust.
Be able to work to tight deadlines, react quickly, and remain calm under pressure.
This role will may be worked flexibly between home & office
