Product Designer (9 month FTC) - Digital Theatre
Who are we?
Digital Theatre+ is a leading provider of high-quality educational resources, offering access to a vast library of content focused on US, UK, and Australian secondary school and higher education institutions.
Whilst you will have access to a London based office, we are open to this role being fully remote.
Role overview
We are seeking a talented and motivated Product Designer to join our team for a fixed term of 9 months (with the potential to be extended to 12 months), providing absence cover. This role will involve undertaking specific design projects aligned with our product roadmap. The successful candidate will independently manage these projects, contributing to shaping and prioritising the product roadmap, conducting user research and testing, maintaining and extending our design system, and ensuring high-quality design output.
Key responsibilities
- Manage and deliver product design projects aligned with the product roadmap
- Contribute to the shaping and prioritisation of the product roadmap
- Conduct competitor research, user research, and user testing - using tools like Maze.com - surveys, quantitative and qualitative methods, and other appropriate tools
- Maintain and extend our design system in Figma, including creating detailed prototypes to test microinteractions
- Collaborate closely with content, publishing, sales, and marketing teams on project basis
- Design holistic user flows, rather than individual screens or components, selecting design patterns based on strong rationale and reflecting our content design principles in your UX
- Work closely with developers to understand and work around constraints
- Perform quality assurance by testing built features and fixing bugs with the development team
You should apply if you have:
- Proven experience as a product designer, preferably within an educational or digital content environment
- Proficiency in Figma, including experience in maintaining and extending design systems
- Strong background in leading user research and testing using various methods and tools (e.g., Maze.com)
- Solid understanding of user-centred design principles and methodologies.
- Ability to design comprehensive user flows and choose design patterns based on solid reasoning
- Excellent UX writing skills, with the ability to reflect content design principles in your work
- Strong collaboration skills, with experience working closely with content, publishing, sales, and marketing teams on project basis
- Ability to work closely with developers, understanding technical constraints and working around them effectively
- Attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality design work
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate design decisions and rationale
