Full Job Description Principal Safety Engineer

CompetitiveAbout the Role This company is seeking aPrincipal Safety Engineer to join their team in London, UK. As aPrincipal Safety Engineer, you will be responsible for deliveringcomplex safety critical systems and defence standards across multipleplatforms. You will undertake safety engineering activities inaccordance with the company's safety processes and using guidance fromDef Stan 00-056 and IEC61508.Responsibilities

Deliver safetyanalysis such as Hazard and Operability Studies (HAZOPs), FunctionalFailure Analysis (FFA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Failure Mode,Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) in accordance with thecompany's safety processes and using guidance from Def Stan 00-056 andIEC61508.Generate safety requirements for the system to ensure thatthe customers safety targets and derived safety targets can be met bythe system design.Present complex and reasoned safety arguments tointernal and external stakeholders in order to influence theirconsideration of safety decisions.Work collaboratively withinmulti-disciplined teams to maximise the company's reputation bygenerating high quality and well-reasoned outputs.Support audits atinternal and external design reviews and safety committeemeetings.Requirements

Proven experience in delivering andcommunicating Systems Safety within the UK Defence industry.A degree,HND or HNC in Engineering or Safety Management related discipline orequivalent relevant experience in Systems SafetyEngineering.Awareness, understanding and application of internationaland defence standards such as IEC 61508 and Def Stan 00-056.Awarenessof safety assurance of COTS PE based systems or high integritysoftware.Experience in safety/reliability analysis techniques: hazardidentification and analysis, FMECA, FTA, Functional FailureAnalysis.Awareness, understanding and application of the tools andtechniques used in Risk Assessments and developing ALARPjustifications.Role Clearance Type:You must be able to gain andmaintain the relevant UK Government clearance in the line with the jobrole (SC)Benefits
