Blackpool Lancashire, United Kingdom Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Here is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a community consultant in an integrated families division.

This up to 8 PA newly created post is to support the recently developed neurodevelopmental pathway as the team continues to ensure the delivery of high-quality regional level key performance indicators for families on the pathway.

There is the chance to develop an interest area to complement the community team. Additionally, the team is able to help the post holder develop specific skills as needed such as ADOS-2 assessments. Applicants with varying experience can be accommodated and support offered to develop within the role, based on the candidate experience and so we would invite informal pre-application enquires as necessary.

Our paediatric team has got a strong reputation of providing both undergraduate and postgraduate training. Our team hosts both MRCPCH and DCH examinations on yearly basis and you will be encouraged to develop as an examiner for Royal Colleges.

There is a dedicated leadership training programme in the trust for development of new consultant with strong ethos around coaching and mentoring.

These are exciting opportunities for a motivated individual. Candidates must be fully registered with the GMC and be on the Specialist Register or be eligible for inclusion on the register within six months of the interview date for the post. Evidence of this status must be included in your application.

Job Description pending Royal College approval

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be appointed as Consultant Community Paediatrician, joining our team of 15 WTE consultants delivering integrated paediatric care to Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre. Within the Consultant body there are already 4 Community-Only Consultant Paediatricians and 3 Consultant Paediatricians that deliver both Acute and Community Paediatric care, in addition to 9 acute only consultants.

The post advertised is a newly created role that backfills existing Community Consultant activity as the team has been re-organised to meet the requirements of the Neuro-developmental (ND) pathway. The postholder will take part in the range of activities needed to serve a geographical catchment, allowing community-based building of strong inter-professional and organisational relationships. Our delivery of the Neuro-developmental pathway has been recognised by our partners and commissioners and led to the creation of this role to continue the high quality multi-agency child focussed assessment and support work that it delivers.

There is no on call component in this role, although there may be some responsibility for acute safeguarding assessments along with the wider team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the management of patients in their direct care. They will be predominately responsible for community based paediatric care within the Blackpool area. There will be 2 clinics within the Child Development Centre (Bleinheim house) with associated administration.
