United Kingdom Global Engineering Talent Full time €75,000

Associate Director – Building Services (Mechanical Bias)

Location: London, UK

Contract Type: Permanent, Hybrid Working Available

Salary: Up to £75,000 per annum + package

Start Date: ASAP

Company Overview:

We are a leading engineering consultancy based in London, renowned for delivering world-class building services solutions on prestigious projects across the UK and the Middle East. We are currently seeking an Associate Director with a mechanical bias to lead our Building Services team. This is a unique opportunity for a hands-on professional who thrives on both leadership and active project delivery.

Role Overview:

As the Associate Director for our Building Services team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day leadership of a talented group of engineers while ensuring the successful delivery of a diverse and high-profile project portfolio. We need a proactive leader who is a “do-er” – someone who is equally comfortable rolling up their sleeves and getting involved in the technical aspects of projects, as they are managing their team. The ideal candidate will have experience delivering complex projects within luxury residential, hotel, large masterplans, and other high-end sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of building services engineers, providing day-to-day direction, guidance, and technical oversight.
  • Project Delivery: Manage and actively participate in the delivery of complex projects from inception through to completion, ensuring high standards are maintained.
  • Client Engagement: Develop and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a key point of contact and ensuring client satisfaction through project success.
  • Hands-On Approach: Be actively involved in the design, problem-solving, and technical decision-making processes of projects, setting the standard for quality and innovation.
  • Business Development: Support business growth by identifying new opportunities, attending client meetings, and contributing to bids and proposals.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure all projects meet regulatory requirements, industry standards, and internal quality controls.
  • Strategic Input: Collaborate with senior leadership to shape the strategic direction of the Building Services team, including resource planning and process improvement.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Mechanical Bias: Proven background in building services engineering with a strong mechanical focus.
  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrable experience in leading teams and managing day-to-day operations within a consultancy environment.
  • Project Delivery: Extensive experience delivering high-end projects such as luxury residential, hotel developments, large masterplans, and complex buildings.
  • UK & Middle Eastern Experience: Familiarity with UK regulations and standards is essential, with any experience on Middle Eastern projects being highly advantageous.
  • Client-Facing Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build lasting relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Hands-On Approach: A proactive and hands-on leader who enjoys being involved in the technical aspects of projects, not just managing from the sidelines.
  • Problem Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the ability to make decisive, informed decisions under pressure.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related field.
  • Chartered status (e.g., CEng) or working towards professional accreditation is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in relevant software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, BIM tools) is a plus.

What We Offer:

  • Competitive salary of up to £75,000 per annum plus a comprehensive package.
  • Opportunity to work on prestigious projects within the UK and the Middle East.
  • A dynamic and collaborative work environment with hybrid working options available.
  • Career development opportunities, including support towards professional accreditations.
