Building and implementing a strategic workforce plan is pivotal to their future success.
This role leads their strategic workforce planning design and activity across the business, working with a broad range of internal stakeholders to embed the new approach, set direction, and ensure alignment with their strategic and financial priorities.
As the UK utility industry braces for AMP8 (Asset Management Period 8), the challenge of addressing skilled labour shortages is increasingly paramount.
WHAT IS AMP8?
AMP8, or an ‘Asset Management Plan’, is a five-year strategy outlined in a water utility’s business plan, which establishes both immediate and future goals for the forthcoming cycle. These AMP periods, determined by the sector’s regulatory body Ofwat, aim to enhance efficiency and elevate service standards in the industry.
A bit about the job:
Lead the strategic workforce planning activity, focussing on embedding a newly developed approach and organisational capability.
Partner the business with the ongoing creation of the workforce of the future 'blueprint’; providing expertise and thought leadership in how to interpret and use external market trend organisational data and internal analysis.
Support the People Directors and their teams to provide strategic workforce planning expertise to senior leaders which facilitate the creation of business area strategic workforce plans.
Provide continuing insight to senior leaders on emerging themes and trends in the workforce.
Skills and experience we’re looking for:
Ability to think and operate with a strategic mindset, with experience in identifying and understanding the organisation’s strategy and goals and understanding how to translate these into talent and capability needs.
Senior level stakeholder engagement along with effective verbal and written communication
Able to understand and interpret a wide range of quantitative and qualitative data and insight, drawing clear and objective conclusions which lead to practical and actionable recommendations.
Strong change management skills with demonstrated ability to navigate a highly complex environment.
Naturally curious and eager to learn seeking out new knowledge through cross-functional collaboration.
