Sr Network and Infrastructure Engineer

Job Summary:

As a senior network and Infrastructure Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, troubleshooting, and maintaining complex network and IT infrastructure solutions. This role encompasses advanced networking with a focus on enterprise-grade firewalls, cloud services management, backup and disaster recovery, IT infrastructure monitoring, and application/database management. You will serve as a technical leader, providing expertise and guidance across multiple domains of IT infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

Advanced Network Management:

  • Design and implement complex LAN/WAN infrastructures
  • Configure and manage enterprise-grade firewalls, with specific expertise in Cisco Meraki, Fortinet, and Palo Alto platforms
  • Implement and optimize VPN solutions for secure remote access
  • Design and manage wireless network infrastructures
  • Conduct advanced network troubleshooting and performance optimization
  • Implement and manage SD-WAN solutions
  • Perform network capacity planning and QoS configuration
  • Manage domains and DNS infrastructures

Cloud Services Management:

  • Design and implement cloud infrastructure across multiple platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
  • Manage and optimize cloud applications (Office 365, G Suite, Salesforce)
  • Implement and manage cloud storage solutions (OneDrive, Dropbox, Google Drive)
  • Design and manage hybrid cloud environments
  • Implement cloud cost optimization strategies and resource allocation
  • Design and deploy serverless computing solutions (AWS Lambda, Azure Functions)
  • Integrate on-premises networks with cloud services securely

Backup and Disaster Recovery:

  • Design and implement comprehensive backup solutions (local, cloud-based, hybrid)
  • Develop and test disaster recovery plans
  • Implement and manage data restoration processes
  • Create and maintain business continuity plans
  • Set up and manage replication and failover solutions
  • Implement archiving and long-term data retention strategies
  • Conduct regular testing and validation of backup and recovery systems

IT Infrastructure Monitoring and Management:

  • Implement and manage enterprise-grade Remote Monitoring and Management (RMM) tools
  • Design and manage patch management processes for operating systems and applications
  • Implement advanced performance monitoring and optimization strategies
  • Manage IT asset lifecycle and implement automated asset tracking systems
  • Design and implement automated alerting and escalation procedures
  • Conduct capacity planning and forecasting for IT infrastructure
  • Implement and maintain ITIL-based service management practices

Application and Database Management:

  • Manage and optimize enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle)
  • Implement and manage customer relationship management (CRM) software (e.g., Salesforce, Dynamics)
  • Provide high-level support for custom applications
  • Design and manage web application infrastructures
  • Perform advanced database performance tuning and optimization
  • Plan and execute complex data migration and integration projects
  • Implement and manage API integration solutions
  • Support business intelligence and analytics platforms

Automation and Scripting:

  • Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts for automation of routine tasks and complex processes
  • Create scripts for system administration, user management, and reporting
  • Implement infrastructure as code practices using tools like Ansible or Terraform
  • Automate cloud resource provisioning and management

Security Integration:

  • Collaborate with the security team to implement advanced network and infrastructure security measures
  • Ensure compliance with relevant security standards and regulations in infrastructure design and management
  • Implement and manage advanced access control systems

Documentation and Knowledge Sharing:

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for network and infrastructure designs
  • Create and update standard operating procedures for complex systems
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers
  • Conduct knowledge transfer sessions on advanced topics

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Network Engineering, or related field;
  • 8+ years of experience in IT with a focus on network and infrastructure engineering
  • Advanced certifications in networking and cloud platforms (e.g., CCIE, AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional)
  • Expert-level knowledge of networking protocols and technologies
  • Extensive experience with enterprise-grade firewalls, specifically Cisco Meraki, Fortinet, and Palo Alto
  • Strong experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and their networking components
  • Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for automation and system management
  • In-depth understanding of backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity principles
  • Expertise in IT infrastructure monitoring tools and methodologies
  • Strong knowledge of database management systems and enterprise applications
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts
  • Experience in project management and leading technical initiatives

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Additional certifications from Cisco, Fortinet, or Palo Alto
  • Experience with software-defined networking (SDN) and intent-based networking
  • Knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Familiarity with AI and machine learning applications in IT infrastructure
  • Experience in a managed services or IT consulting environment
  • Proficiency in additional scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash)
