Panel Wireman A continued demand on our panel-build/workshop facility has identified a mid/long-term requirement to maintain a permanent staffing level within this area of our business, this may also bring opportunities to improve our historical working practises, to progress increased management of the workshop facility and to better co-ordinate its interface with our engineering dept. The key aspects of this workshop role are detailed below: Workshop Supervisor Role The key duties of this role are to ensure the effective usage of the workshop and it’s stores management, this will support the smooth running of the facility and its productive usage. The following tasks have been listed, for ongoing implementation, whilst opportunities to both challenge and change our working practices are encouraged:

  • Report directly to the NFA Project Management Team
  • Overseeing the receipt and storage of incoming items (goods receiving);
  • Administering a basic stock control system including any bonded stock items, making sure inventories are updated on a regular basis (training will be provided on the usage of our MS Access system);
  • Ensuring that the correct stock levels of commonly used items are set and maintained (cabling, DIN rail and trunking etc.), that orders and reorders are made (or requested to be made) in good time, anticipating requirements by referencing the workshop plan;
  • Coordinating the efficient use of our labelling systems;
  • Using workshop space effectively, ensuring that its respective working/testing areas are kept clean and tidy at all times;
  • Supervision of external contractors engaged in panel building and site work
  • Basic point-to-point panel tests;
  • Overseeing the calibration of test equipment;
  • Ensuring that quality objectives and delivery deadlines are met;
  • Generally having a clear understanding of the company's policies and how the workshop contributes to these, i.e. change control.
  • Site based electrical installation work on smaller projects where we may have typically used external contractors;
  • Updating of supplier prices within the purchase database, when time allows and in co-ordination with the Hardware Engineering Team.
Panel Wireman Role In addition to the supervisory role your main task will be to build, assemble, wire and test (basic point-to-point) our respective control panels using our in-house drawing packages, which would contain the following:
  • Title Sheet
  • General Arrangement Drawing(s)
  • Parts Lists
  • Electrical Wiring Schematics
  • Terminal Details
All of your works must also be undertaken in accordance with our ISO9001: 2015 Quality Management System
