If you’re currently studying Economics, our one-year programme starting in July 2024 is a great opportunity to learn on the job in a large, evolving organisation that spends around £5billion a year to build and improve the strategic road network. 
Working in the Strategic Planning and Analysis division of our Customer, Strategy and Communications directorate, you’ll learn how we provide specialist insight to deliver better value for money from our investments, policies and standards and help the business understand the economic implications of its decisions. 
Being on placement at National Highways is a great way to get hands-on work experience on exciting projects in a large, evolving organisation.

Currently in your second year of an undergraduate Economics degree. This can be a BA or BSc Economics degree or a Joint Honours degree that includes Economics.

The Customer, Strategy and Communications directorate (CSC) plays a critical role in National Highways. We set the course for strategic roads, enabling the company to deliver economic and social benefits through meeting the needs of our customers and clients, as well as our regulatory obligations.
