Northreach have partnered with a stealth biotechnology organisation based in Cambridge seeking a Head of Bioinformatics to join in the buildout of their innovative Genomics platform.

The Opportunity:

We are seeking an exceptional Head of Bioinformatics to spearhead our bioinformatics division. This pivotal role will lead the strategic development and operational execution of bioinformatics research and development, driving innovation in genomic analysis and computational biology to support our diagnostic and therapeutic programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and expand a team of bioinformaticians, computational biologists, and data scientists to support the company’s genomics projects.
  • Develop and oversee the implementation of cutting-edge bioinformatics strategies, tools, and pipelines to analyze large-scale genomic data.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, clinical development, and data science, to ensure the integration of bioinformatics insights into product development and research initiatives.
  • Guide the bioinformatics team in publishing scientific papers and contributing to the scientific community through conferences and collaborations.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, excellence, and continuous learning within the bioinformatics team.
  • Stay abreast of the latest developments in bioinformatics, genomics, and related fields to maintain competitive advantage and inform strategic decisions.
  • Manage external collaborations and partnerships with academic, research, and technology partners to enhance our bioinformatics capabilities.

What We’re Looking For:

  • PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genetics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in bioinformatics or computational biology, with at least 3 years in a leadership position.
  • Proven track record of managing bioinformatics teams and projects in a genomics or biotechnology environment.
  • Extensive experience with genomic data analysis, bioinformatics tool development, and next-generation sequencing technologies.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and mentor a high-performing team.
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, capable of working effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinker with a vision for leveraging bioinformatics to drive scientific and clinical breakthroughs.
