We are looking for an enthusiastic Preceptorship Speech and Language Therapist to work with us in East Kent. The Kent Community Health Adult Speech & Language Therapy service is friendly and welcoming. We are committed to continually developing our staff and services. The caseload is primarily neurological patients including those with Parkinson’s disease, dementia and other acquired swallowing and communication disorders, whom you will see in a range of settings including care homes and patients’ own homes.

We have a senior experienced SLT whose Clinical Development role is to support and develop our band 5s through their preceptorship year and beyond, so you will be in excellent hands

Our service consists of about 30 therapists and assistant practitioners. We really value our staff and they in turn value the support and opportunities that we provide.

We offer excellent clinical supervision (individual and group) and hold regular in-service training days.

Person specification QUALIFICATIONS
  • Recognised Speech and Language Therapy degree qualification or equivalent (or about to qualify)
  • Registered Member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT)
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Health and Care Professions Council licence to practice as a Speech & Language Therapist (A) (or applying once qualified)
EXPERIENCE
  • Experience of recent community/acute healthcare relevant to the role gained through education or work experience placement or previous employment
  • Relevant voluntary or previous work experience. Dysphagia experience (RCSLT dysphagia competencies level B) or equivalent
KNOWLEDGE
  • Knowledge of a range of assessments and therapy techniques.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – both verbal and written – including presentation of information to others.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
  • Understands the limits of their own competence and demonstrates ability to act on guidance/feedback from manager or other senior clinician.

  • Excellent time management, organisational and prioritisation skills.
