The Hull and East Riding Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) is looking for a Senior Sister/Charge Nurse with a flair for innovation and leadership in a community based setting.


We are seeking an exceptional senior nurse who can seamlessly manage and synchronise the operations of our Phlebotomy Service. You will provide specialist nursing advice and support to the nursing team within the phlebotomy department to facilitate high quality, individualised care to patients/clients and relatives/carers without supervision and in collaboration with a multidisciplinary ensemble of specialities such as sonographers, physiologists, radiographers and technicians, in line with local and national targets.


The new CDC building is due to open early 2025 and will be based on Storey Street in Hull City Centre. In the interim period, prior to the opening of the new CDC, the phlebotomy service will be provided from the Wilberforce Centre on Storey Street where you will be working alongside speciality clinical and business teams to develop local processes and policies to ensure we deliver the best pathways to care to our patients and be involved in a critical part of building and developing a community based team, providing motivation and leadership.
The post holder will be responsible for ensuring the effective management of the Hull and east Riding Community Diagnostic Centre Phlebotomy Department over the 24-hour period. They will provide both clinical and managerial leadership to the nursing team. They will supervise the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care ensuring that nursing and corporate standards are maintained and measured.


The post holder will work closely with speciality business and multidisciplinary teams developing and progressing seamless pathways for patient care from the acute hospital and other care providers. RGN 1st Level with current NMC Registration
Nursing related degree
Knowledge, Training & Experience
Significant post-registration experience which must be at Band 6, with a demonstrable period of working successfully as a leader
Experience of professional development.

Previous management experience in a clinic/community setting


Evidence of recent study and professional development

Experience of hospital based IT systems, such as Lorenzo.
Knowledge of research and audit including implementation of findings and review of outcomes
