Who are we?

Hydraquip are the UK’s largest independent onsite hose replacement company, offering a 24/7-365 nationwide on-site service. We have been established for over 30 years and have ambitious plans for further growth in the coming years. Currently, we operate approximately 150 service vans and have recently committed to an investment of £2m to commission 50 new mobile service vans, upgrading our existing fleet and adding additional vehicles. Operated by experienced and dedicated hydraulic engineers, we are proud of our success rate of over 99% of first-time repairs on site.Hydraquip have market leading technology to support our team including our customer portal which allows customers to book and track their hydraulic hose replacement and services, with real time job status updates.

To support our growth plans, we are planning to recruit additional members to our team. We have 28 branches across the UK, depending on your location, you will be based at your nearest branch.

About the Role:

As the Health, Safety & Environment Business Partner you will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing effective health, safety, and environmental strategies, policies, and practices across all aspects of our operations .

You will provide practical and professional advice and interpretation on health, safety and environmental, company policies and best practice to managers and business leaders to support them in achieving excellent performance in all areas of HSE, ensuring the Company complies with legal requirements, international standards and promotes a culture which enhances its reputation and minimises its impact on the health and safety of employees and others.

Responsible for maintaining up to date knowledge of Health, Safety &, Environmental, standards.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain robust health and safety procedures, ensuring compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Responsible for Identifying requirements to either create new policies or amend existing policies within the Company.
  • Responsible for providing HSE advice, information and training up to senior manager level.
  • Lead safety training programs, promoting a safety-conscious culture, and encouraging employee engagement in health and safety initiatives.
  • Responsible for liaising with external regulatory bodies/Government departments/ Specialist parties.
  • Identify Health and Safety training requirements for employees and follow company procedure to ensure training requirements are maintained.
  • Supporting management groups in carrying out regular risk assessments and assurance checks, to identify potential hazards and proactively address safety issues throughout the organisation.
  • Keep records of inspection findings and produce reports that suggest improvements.
  • Carry out Incident and accident investigation, ensuring where appropriate they are reported to external regulatory bodies to include the publication of necessary reports.
  • Collaborate with all Company departments to ensure all aspects of the business adhere to health, safety, and environmental policies.
  • Stay abreast of emerging trends and developments in health, safety, and environmental practices and incorporate best practices into Company operations.
  • Maintain records and reports (HSE information, statistics, gap analysis, data trends) related to health, safety, and environmental metrics for internal and external reporting purposes.

Requirements:

  • An IOSH certification as a minimum, with a NEBOSH certification being advantageous. Professional membership of The Institute of Occupational Health and Safety (Tech / Grad IOSH).
  • Suitable site experience in a similar role, preferably in the engineering or construction industry.
  • Extensive experience working in a Health & Safety role at senior level with decision making authority.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills in order to explain HSE procedures and expectations to a range of people.
  • IT skills, able to design and deliver presentations
  • Able to work independently, make sound decisions, and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Ability to prioritise own workload within a complex environment with changing priorities and deadlines.
