Scotland, United Kingdom QinetiQ Full time

About the Opportunity
This is an opportunity to join the Hebrides Tracking Engineering Team in a world-class Testing and Trials Evaluation environment. You will play a vital role in the maintenance, repair, and operation of a broad range of equipment, underpinned by a qualification in and practical working knowledge of electrical and electronic equipment.
Location
The MOD Hebrides Range is located at various sites on the islands of South Uist, Benbecula, and St Kilda. The Tracking radars maintained and operated by the Engineering team are situated on the Island of South Uist and St Kilda.
Operational Details
The MOD Hebrides Range is operated by QinetiQ on behalf of the Ministry of Defence under the terms of the Long Term Partnering Agreement (LTPA) contract. The Missile Testing Range was built by the Royal Air Force between 1957 and 1958 to launch the Corporal Missile, Britain and America's first guided Nuclear Weapon. Today, it consists of a Deep Range for complex weapons trials and in-service firings, and an Inner Range for ground-based air defense campaigns.
The Hebrides Range operating area occupies 115,000km² of sanitized airspace with unlimited altitude and can be extended for specific trials. For example, the NATO Formidable Shield exercises require in excess of 1,000,000km². This large area makes it ideal for Air-Launched Weapons Operations and is a fully Instrumented Controlled Environment enabling the test and evaluation of Land, Air & Sea Weapons, Systems, and Training.
Joining the Team
QinetiQ is looking for dynamic individuals to join the Hebrides engineering team to support the delivery of trials for our customers.
Role Overview
The 2 Tracking Radars on South Uist are operated from the Range Control Building along with 2 remotely operated radars on St Kilda. The facility also has access to a mobile Tracking Doppler Radar as part of its assets. The radars are supported by a dedicated Tracking engineering team responsible for maintaining, sustaining, and operating during trials to provide Test & Evaluation data for our customers. The engineering team ensures the Tracking Radars are fully maintained, calibrated, and configured for test operations, with any bespoke customer requirements integrated into the data acquisition and post-processing systems.
Opportunities Available
The opportunities will suit people looking for a practical, hands-on role as part of the multi-skilled engineering team. You will aspire to develop both a broad knowledge of the whole facility and deep specialized knowledge in specific areas. The Tracking Radar operation, combined with the ability to continuously learn and collaborate with others, provides the opportunity for a long, fulfilling, and rewarding technical career.
Scope of Opportunities
We are looking for: Junior & Senior Electrical/Electronics Technicians who will play a vital role in the maintenance, repair, and operation of Tracking Radars, underpinned by a qualification in and practical working knowledge of electrical and electronic equipment. All equipment specific training will be provided.

Applicants that already hold the appropriate level of vetting may be able to transfer it upon appointment, subject to approval. A number of roles are also subject to restrictions on access to information that mean factors such as nationality, previous nationalities held and the country in which you were born may have an effect on the roles that you can be employed in.
