As a clinical trainer you will take a lead role in developing and delivering an innovative and creative training plan that supports our aspiration to become a trauma informedwhole system pathway of care.


Under the direction of the Clinical Lead and Supervision and Reflective Practice lead, the post holder will work on the development and implementation of a BSW (Bath North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire) wide training programme for health and social care staff work with complex emotional needs/personality disorder.
You will be working with the Personality disorder pathway team, learning and development team, and system partners to develop, design, deliver, analyse and evaluate learning and development programmes and other essential skills training. As well as leading on developing and delivering training projects you will provide 0.4 wte clinical time plus line management and supervision within the personality disorder pathway.


The role will involve mapping out training plans and schedules, coordinate training programs (outsourced or in-house) for Adult mental health and other services in the BSW health and social care system as well as delivering high quality training and an evaluation programme.

To provide a psychologically informed service to the personality disorder pathway including assessment and specialist formulation for individuals and carers as appropriate.


To provide specialist consultation and supervision to the personality disorder pathway and other agencies providing care for the client group.


To participate in clinical and caseload supervision arrangements provided within the personality disorder pathway team.


To liaise with Recovery teams, PCLS, Primary care and other services and identify appropriate care pathways for patients with complex emotional needs/personality disorder.


To work jointly with colleagues within primary and secondary services offering consultation, and case-based discussion and providing expert advice.


To participate in generic team duties as agreed by the team manager, as appropriate to the needs of the service.


To adhere to the HCPC policies and procedures.


To be aware of, adhere to, and where appropriate, contribute to the formulation and review of Trust, Area and Clinical Psychology Service policies and procedures.


To participate in local psychology meetings and Trust wide meetings as appropriate.


To maintain and develop high standards of psychology practice by engaging in continuing professional development and co-operative working/networking with counselling and clinical psychologist colleagues.


To participate in an annual performance appraisal.


SERVICE GOVERNANCE


To participate in service governance processes in the profession, ensuring a safe and effective service.


To support and participate in multidisciplinary clinical audit.


To promote the use of effective interventions in the service.


TRAINING AND STAFF DEVELOPMENT AND MANAGEMENT


Use highly specialist knowledge to develop and deliver (alongside colleagues) engaging training packages on the needs of and interventions for people with complex emotional needs/personality disorders to a variety of learner levels (support staff to clinicians).


Ensuring that all highly specialised training packages are underpinned by theoretical knowledge, practice-focussed and are evidence-based and kept up to date with clinical advances and research.


To provide training, supervision and consultation in psychological approaches to other staff in the multidisciplinary team. This to include joint assessment with care co-ordinators, formulation of psychological problems and planning of interventions to be implemented by care co-ordinators or other team members with service users.


To provide training and supervision to staff throughout the mental health services (alongside main identified supervisor).


To contribute to the teaching of students and trainees in psychology, medicine, nursing and other health care disciplines.


Develop a culture and environment in which members of staff are encouraged and supported to deliver high- quality services and are supported to innovate and improve services where appropriate.

Consider the individual needs of team members for a healthy work-life balance and think about how their needs can be supported by providing flexible ways of working.


Support all team members to keep their mandatory and statutory training up-to-date and identify the learning and development needs of all team members of the team ensuring that everyone has an up-to-date personal development plan (PDP).


Ensure that every team member as at least an hour of supervision (one-to-one meeting) each month, this may include both managerial and clinical supervision.


Ensure all team members receive a constructive assessment of their performance each year and set SMART objectives for the coming year.


Seek support from the HR Team to tackle any worries regarding matters of discipline, including both conduct and capability concerns, supporting a just and restorative culture. Act as a positive role model at all times, encouraging people to feel equal members of the team whilst working within clear frameworks and policies.


Promote effective use of bank and agency nursing staff, providing a safe and effective service, complying with regulatory standards.


Ensure that you and your team understand all of the agreed key performance indicators for your service, particularly relating to outcomes and essential standards to be met.


SERVICE AND POLICY DEVELOPMENT


To engage in research relevant to service priorities as appropriate.


To participate in audit and service evaluation activities examining the effectiveness of current service delivery and leading to development of services relevant to client needs.


To undertake advice, support and consultation to colleagues from other disciplines undertaking research in the area.


With the following staff working and providing services in the designated area:


A registered qualification and professional registration in one of the following at graduate level in nursing, social work, occupational therapy, arts therapy, clinical psychology or core profession status within psychological therapy such as (BABCP, BACP etc)


Experience of delivering teaching/training
Experience of designing teaching/training
Experience facilitating supervision and consultation
Experience of co-production and/or codelivery of training with practitioners with lived experience
