Sheffield Children's NHS Foundation Trust is excited to offer opportunities to train to become a Nursing Associate. The current vacancies will be in Helena Specialist Nursing Team and Ryegate House, and PCCU with the potential of other opportunities including CWHAMS that will confirmed at interview.

This role in nursing leads to a nationally recognised qualification. You will work independently under the supervision of a fully qualified registered nurse, delivering high quality care which will include administering medications and other skills.

As a trainee you will be employed as a Band 3 Trainee Nursing Associate to a nationally agreed job description. This is a full time employed post to enable completion of the training course which is over 2 years.

Main duties of the job

The training programme is Level 5 Foundation Degree delivered by The University of Sheffield. On successful completion of the training, you will have a recognised qualification as a Nursing Associate. Trainees will wear a dedicated uniform (where applicable) in training.

The trainee will have a base placement within Sheffield Children's NHS Foundation Trust there will be opportunity to gain further experience across other NHS Trusts and Health providers within Sheffield through alternative placements as part of the program curriculum.

Person Specification Qualifications
  • Functional skills English and maths level 2 or GCSE English and maths grades A*/9 - C/4.
  • Committed to undertaking the study skills course prior to commencement of training in their own time.
  • Commitment to undertake and successfully complete the Foundation Degree in Health and Care (Nursing Associate).
  • The Care Certificate (or equivalent healthcare qualification).
  • NVQ/ QCF Diploma Level 2/3 in Healthcare.
Experience
  • Experience of working in a health care setting
  • Experience of providing care.
  • Substantial experience as a healthcare worker in a care setting.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Knowledge of the Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers and Adult Social Care Workers (2013).
  • Able to describe the importance of delivering high quality care to patients.
  • Demonstrate understanding of the Nursing Associate role in relation to the team and the organisation, and how the role may contribute to service development.
  • Communicate factual information in a timely Manner
  • Basic information and communications technology (ICT) skills.
  • Has the ability to Communicate at all levels.
  • Effective organisational skills.
  • Able to prioritise workload with supervision.
  • Knowledge of current healthcare issues.
  • Understanding of health and well-being in relation to health promotion and prevention.
  • Understanding of evidence based practice.
  • Able to demonstrate practical skills to others.
