CMM Programmer Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and create comprehensive CMM programs to accurately inspect customer parts using dedicated inspection equipment.
  • Install, calibrate, and validate these programs at various customer sites throughout the UK and Ireland, ensuring seamless integration and optimal performance.
  • Utilise and program a wide range of dimensional measurement equipment.
  • Actively engage with customers to understand and interpret their specific requirements, engineering drawings, and CAD models, ensuring clarity and alignment with international standards.
  • Provide technical support and expertise to customers, addressing queries and resolving any issues related to measurement programs or equipment usage.
  • Develop and refine measurement programs and inspection strategies to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and reliability.
  • Design and develop custom fixtures as needed to optimise the measurement process.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to evaluate client needs, establish measurement requirements, and develop tailored solutions.
  • Provide input on potential process improvements and contribute to the development of new services and capabilities within the measurement department.
CMM Programmer Key Requirements:
  • In-depth knowledge of metrology principles, including a solid understanding of engineering drawings, geometric tolerancing, standards, and CAD systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in CMM programming, and the ability to interpret and manipulate customer CAD models.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, mechanical principles, and measurement techniques.
  • Proven ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned tasks, demonstrating initiative and accountability.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact confidently with customers and provide clear technical explanations.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with a methodical approach to fault-finding and diagnosis.
  • Experience in designing and developing fixtures for measurement applications is advantageous.
  • Competence in using IT systems and specialized software for measurement and data management.
  • Previous experience in a customer-facing technical support role.
  • Knowledge of additional measurement equipment and techniques.
