We are exceptional people delivering exceptional care and support, and we are looking for a PBS Practitioner to join our Specialist Support Team. The role will predominatly support services in Stockport with cases in wider Manchester also so travel and overnight stays are to be expected from time on a rare occassion.
The Specialist Support Practitioner will carry a clinical caseload and work in partnership with operational staff to develop innovative and person centred approaches that will enable these same individuals to have fulfilled and active lives, thereby reducing the probability of challenging behaviour. The nature of the work will predominantly focus on behavioural support, but when required will involve providing coaching around Autism Spectrum Condition, Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDDs) and Mental Health diagnoses. The role involves travel and will require occasional overnight stays for training, attendance and team meetings etc.
This role has been created to support our brand new service opened in Stockport. You will support the 3 services users in our Stockport service and manage your own caseload of refferals.
Take professional responsibility for a specialist caseload and to provide expert advice and recommendations to staff working within Lifeways Group services regarding behavioural and other specialist support, linking with the relevant Lead Specialist
Support Managers to implement, monitor and evaluate behaviour support plans
When & where required, offer support to the Specialist Trainers in delivering training and workshops to staff teams regarding Positive Behavioural Support, Mental Health, Autism Spectrum Condition etc.
Provide effective support, thorough debriefs, to people we support and staff following incidents.
Work flexible hours as required by the organisation.
Be able to travel nationally to deliver additional support to team members and provide individual consultation (this will occasionally require overnight stays)
Role model positive behavioural support and Practice Leadership to support staff.
Promote safe, ethical and respectful risk and physical management practices for staff and comply with relevant policies and requirements, including recording and reporting.
If your studying a relevant qualification and require support for supervision hours we can provide this via our external PBS Partner.
At least 3 years’ experience of working with individuals with an Intellectual or Developmental Disability (IDD) and/or those who may display behaviours that can challenge. (Holds a qualificaitons in applied behaviour analysis
Experience of both supported living and residential settings
Experience of working in Mental Health
Experience of delivering staff training/coaching and able to demonstrate a strong knowledge of theoretical concepts, approaches and strategies of positive behaviour support and least restrictive practices
Holds a certificate/diploma in Positive Behaviour Support, or working towards
Full driving license and access to own vehicle
